Welcome to EB Adventures, specialists in canoe camping and expedition canoeing

EB Adventures was set up by best friends Ed Bassett and Jeff Ryall . Their aim was, and is, simple - to provide you with experiences at home and abroad that enable everyone to get the most out of the outdoors, whatever your level of skills or physical restrictions, and to have a fantastic time that you   will remember for years to come.   We organise adventures in Arctic Canada, Finland, USA, Europe and Africa for clients who want to experience the beautiful places of the world and be part of the environment rather than just onlookers!

As a company that believes in "full inclusion" our mission is to do whatever we can to help you get the most out of the outdoors.    We have many years of experience leading inclusive canoeing expeditions and holidays across the globe for both disabled and non-disabled people, and believe that adventure travel should be available to all.

Uplifting, spiritually rewarding, relaxing and awesome are all terms used by our clients to describe their experiences with EB Adventures. Our calendar caters for everyone from the canoeing novices through to the experienced expeditionary. From weekends in England and France to 20 days in Arctic Canada, from the heat and incredible vibrant colours of Kenya to the cool calm and solitude of Finland: the choice is yours.

We have visited and experienced for ourselves each destination, discovered when the best time of year to visit is, and negotiated the best rates possible for our clients. We deliberately keep our canoeing groups small in size so each trip can be tailored as much as possible, ensuring your holiday is one to remember. We also offer you the opportunity to create a totally bespoke canoeing expedition for yourself, your family and friends.

If this appeals to you, then you are our kind of people. We specialise in trips that take you to the world's hidden places. Sure, you have to make an effort to get there but the prize is worth it.

ABOUT US

Below is a bit of information about Ed and Jeff. Jeff's the reserved one, (Ed's not), as you can see from their biographies - we had to squeeze details from Jeff! But, together they make a brilliant team, and their skill and enthusiasm for what they do is only surpassed by their ability to talk for England when they get together.

Countryman is the ideal word to describe Jeff. His love of the land and the things that live on it is immense and his knowledge of countryside management and conservation is extensive. As an Estate Manager he developed projects that increase the value of the land whilst improving the biodiversity of the whole estate. As well as his countryside and bushcraft skills, he is a keen climber and canoeist. But, where Jeff really comes into his own is in the planning and overseeing of EB Adventures' expeditions. His aim is to make sure that everything runs smoothly, leaving people free to concentrate on having a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Ed
has been an adventurer for over thirty years. He was introduced to the great outdoors in the early 1970s by his Grandfather, who took him to the Welsh mountains, taught him to canoe, and encouraged his love for the wilderness. As a young soldier he developed his fieldcraft skills further and became an expedition leader for his regiment. He travelled extensively and experienced extreme conditions in some of the most inhospitable regions of the world, from Arctic cold to Equatorial heat.

After leaving the Army he took part in and led expeditions across the globe, all the time deepening his knowledge of the natural world and developing his skills as a teacher. During this time he worked as a Chief Instructor for an adventure centre for disabled people in Devon, where he developed courses that helped their clients take full part in all of the activities on offer. This concept of "full inclusion" led him to help organise the 1997 Coppermine River Expedition, which was described by the Deputy Director of the Royal Geographical Society as " a ground breaking expedition". It was the first expedition of its type to be approved by the society and is featured in the British Canoe Union handbook as a benchmark for expeditions that include disabled people. As well as running EB Adventures, Ed also lectures in Expedition Skills for colleges and universities in the UK.

VOYAGEUR CANOE

In 2011 we are proud to offer you the opportunity to discover the world of the voyageur canoe. Our 30ft (9m) canoe, the longbow, will take twelve people on a journey back in time to the life of the "Voyageurs" that traded in furs for the Hudsons Bay Company and the "Coureurs de Bois" who navigated their craft deep into the Canadian wilderness. Listen to the song of the river as you manoeuvre the longbow silently through the water, feel the surge of speed as you and your team pull in perfect unison. No craft has ever captured the imagination more than the open canoe and the longbow will transport you into another world, a world where you can relax and enjoy the natural environment, or test your team in a craft that allows you to set the pace.

One day trips and two day camping trips are available in the longbow on the beautiful River Medway in Kent.

For corporate events we can bring the canoe to you.   The longbow can be loaded onto a trailer and brought to any suitable venue in the UK where we will helm the boat for you and provide a unique experience that your company or your customers will remember for a long time.
