SPRAY COVER
A spray cover is available for the PakCanoe™ 160, 165 and 170. The cover is made of sturdy PVC coated fabric and attaches to the canoe skin with a lacing system that allows loads above the level of the gunwales. The two-piece design allows easy access to gear without removing the cover from the canoe. Aluminium wave deflectors support the spray cover in front of each cockpit, and rope pockets at each end keep ropes handy, yet organized. A spray cover will keep you and your gear dry in the rain and keep spray out of the canoe in waves and white water. It will also keep you much warmer and more comfortable on a cold and windy day. Please note, a spray cover is not a substitute for prudent judgment in the wilderness.
TWO-PIECE PADDLES
PakBoat's™
two-piece canoe paddles fit inside the bag with the canoe. This makes travel with your canoe much more convenient - in particular on public transportation.
MOHAWK PADDLES have a moulded, reinforced plastic blade and an aluminium shaft. The shaft tapers gradually down towards the tip of the blade to enhance the paddle blade's performance in the water. Mohawk paddles are rugged and reliable, and Mohawks have earned their reputation as one of the best inexpensive paddles available.
MITCHELL PADDLES are very well made, and it shows. They have an attractive laminated wooden blade, strongly reinforced against damage from rough use on long expeditions. The carbon shaft has a built-in joint and there is a comfortable wooden T-grip. This is a paddle you will be happy to spend long hours with on a demanding wilderness trip.

KNEE PADS
5" x 45" knee pads install in the PakBoat™ to cover the cross rib in front of and behind your knees. They protect your shins and give your knees an inch of foam padding, a must for river runners.

CANOE PORTAGE YOKE
A shaped wooden yoke clamps securely to the gunwales. Installation takes less than 2 minutes and on a two-person canoe, the yoke can be left on while under way to act as a centre thwart. (Yoke on a solo PakCanoe™ 140 shown.)

With the portage yoke you can easily do a one-man carry. To balance the canoe on your shoulders, mount the yoke so that the canoe tends to tip down behind you. You can then use the weight of your arms to balance it. Compared to other canoes, the PakCanoe™ is more comfortable to carry on a yoke. Traditional canoes are very stiff, and you will feel the load with every step. The PakCanoe's™ more flexible hull helps absorb the impact.
CANOE ROWING RIG
The rowing rig clamps securely to the PakCanoe's™ gunwales and supports the oar locks at the appropriate position for rowing. Rowing your canoe, you can move faster and more easily than with a paddle. The PakCanoe™ rowing rig has 3 main parts. A thwart with adjustable clamps can be secured to canoes with different beam. The thwart anchors the inboard ends of the two diagonal arms. Each diagonal arm also clamps to the gunwale and extends a few inches outside the gunwales to support the oar locks. The simple design of the PakCanoe™ rowing rig makes it inexpensive, yet it transforms your canoe into a very efficient rowboat.
MOTOR MOUNT FOR FOLDING CANOE & OPEN KAYAK
The motor mount is primarily intended for electric trolling motors, but will also work for outboards up to 2 HP. To use a motor, you need to counterbalance its weight. Place about 50 lbs in the boat on the opposite side from the motor, forward of centre. Add flotation in the stern, equal to the weight of motor and battery. A large water jug works well.

The motor mount has fixed clamps attaching to the gunwale in front of and behind the motor bracket. A single clamp on the opposite side of the PakCanoe™ or Puffin is adjustable to fit the beam of the boat you attach the motor mount to. With its flexible clamping system the motor mount works on all PakCanoes™ and on most Puffins, but gasoline outboards should only be used on the larger PakCanoes™.
TRADITIONAL BENCH SEATS
This seat is made with a woven webbing top on a wooden frame. It spans the width of the canoe and rests on horizontal rails attached to the canoe frame. The seat is adjustable forward & back and can also be adjusted up & down.

The picture shows the stern seat. The bow seat is wider and has a wider seating area. Please specify when you order.
SELF-INFLATING SEAT PAD
This is a mini-Thermarest pad in a protective cover that attaches to PakCanoe™ seats - and to most standard canoe seats. We have tested self inflating pads as well as gel pads on a canoe trip. Both pads worked well, but the gel pad was much heavier, and we could not see that it had any advantages over the self-inflating one. There is a trick to using the self inflating pad. If it is fully inflated, you may feel that your position is unstable. You can solve this problem by letting out air until you start feeling contact with the seat itself. As a bonus, when lightly inflated, the seat pad makes a comfortable pillow - especially if laid on top of a life jacket for added thickness.
KAYAK/PASSENGER SEAT
A kayak style seat with adjustable back support lowers the centre of gravity and provides excellent stability and comfort. This seat is inflatable and packs very small.
PEDESTAL CANOE SEAT
This unique seat offers two alternative paddling positions - horizontal for sitting and slanted forward to support kneeling. You can change between the two positions with one hand in less than 5 seconds. The seat can be mounted in several alternative locations in the canoe and folds flat for storage.
WHALE TAILS ROOF RACK PADS
Whale Tails are cut from laminated foam/fabric material similar to what is used in PakCanoe™ bottoms. They provide rugged, effective padding to protect roof loads like canoes as well as the roof rack itself. Whale tails install securely and easily on the roof rack bars and are easily removed when not in use.
ROD HOLDERS
PakBoat™ has adapted Scotty's standard Mount Board so it will clamp securely to the gunwales on Puffins and PakCanoes™. The Mount Board accepts three of Scotty's accessories in any combination. You can have three fishing rods. You can have just one or two rods and a cup holder and/or GPS. There are quite a few possible combinations to suit your needs.
REPAIR KIT
The repair kit includes fabric patches for the sides and bottom, a can of adhesive and comes in a draw string nylon bag. Please indicate canoe colour.
D-RINGS
D-ring patches are handy to attach painters or tracking lines. They have 1 inch stainless steel D-rings and black vinyl patches to match the canoe's trim and be compatible with the vinyl adhesive.
KEEL STRIP KIT
A keel strip covers the bottom of the boat along the keel line and adds abrasion resistance where it is most needed. We recommend a keel strip for backcountry trips and whenever shallow water is anticipated. The Keel Strip Kit consists of a 30 mil strip of PVC, adhesive, and installation instructions.

DECKS FOR THE PUFFIN SPORT
There are now two deck options for the Puffin Sport. Both decks are attached to the hull with a Velcro strip all the way around the boat.

ORIGINAL DECK
This deck is gray with black trim. It is made of 150 denier (150D in the price list) polyester with a PVC coating. The cockpit is 29 inches long, and the cockpit coaming is aluminium tube covered in fabric. The cockpit supports the smaller Puffin spray skirt. The cockpit coaming folds for packing. This deck is supported with flexible fibreglass rods across the hull and will not support a deck load.

IMPROVED DECK
The new deck is made of 600 denier (600D in the price list) polyurethane coated polyester fabric with an attractive diamond shaped rip-stop pattern. Colour options are red or mango with gray trim. The cockpit is 36 inches long to make it easy to get into the seat, and the cockpit coaming supports the larger XT spray skirt. This deck has a solid support structure built in, and it can support a deck bag.
DECKS FOR THE PUFFIN II
Puffin II decks are made of gray 150 denier PVC coated polyester with black trim. Decks originally made for the PakBoat™ Arrow kayaks will fit and are also available. Arrow decks are red or yellow with black trim, and they are made of 300 denier polyurethane coated rip stop polyester.

SOLO DECK FOR PUFFIN II
The deck is attached to the hull with a Velcro strip all the way around the boat. The cockpit is 29 inches long with an aluminium coaming covered in fabric. It supports the optional smaller Puffin spray skirt. The cockpit coaming folds for packing. The deck is supported by flexible fibreglass rods across the hull and will not support a deck load.

3 - PIECE DECK FOR PUFFIN II
There are two equal size end sections and one centre section. Each part is supported by flexible fibreglass rods across the hull. There is no cockpit rim, so no spray skirt is supported. This deck will not support a deck load.

DECK FOR THE PUFFIN SACO
The Saco deck is made of 600 denier (600D in the price list) polyurethane coated polyester fabric with an attractive diamond shaped rip-stop pattern. Colour options are red or mango with gray trim. The cockpit is 36 inches long to make it easy to get in and out of the seat, and the cockpit coaming supports the larger XT spray skirt. This deck has a solid support structure built in, and it can support a deck bag.

DECKS FOR THE PUFFIN SARANAC
Saranac decks are available for solo or tandem seating. Both decks are made of 600 denier (600D in the price list) polyurethane coated polyester fabric with an attractive diamond shaped rip-stop pattern. Colour options are red or mango with gray trim. The cockpits are 36 inches long to make it easy to get in and out of the seat, and the cockpit coamings support the larger XT spray skirt. The decks have a solid support structure built in, and they can support deck loads.

DECKS FOR XT-KAYAKS
XT kayaks have low sides and are intended to be paddled with a deck, so both XT-15 and XT-16 have a deck included. The XT-16 comes with a deck for two paddlers, but it can also be paddled solo. A solo deck is available so the kayak can be perfectly balanced. XT decks are made of 600 denier polyester fabric with an attractive diamond shaped ripstop pattern. Colour options are red or mango with grey trim. The seat's back band is permanently attached to the deck to save assembly time. The optional thigh straps are also attached to the deck.
SPRAY SKIRT
All Pakboat™ spray skirts are grey, made of a waterproof breathable fabric. This fabric is very soft and comfortable. Pakboat TM spray skirts are cut to minimize pooling of water and each skirt has a mesh pocket in front. The skirts have removable suspenders as well as a draw string around the top.

Puffins have two different cockpit sizes. The original cockpit is 29 inches long and the smaller spray skirt will fit. This cockpit size is on all gray Puffin Sport decks, all Puffin Kayak 12 decks, all Puffin Swift decks, and all Puffin II solo decks. The 29 inch cockpit is also on all Arrow decks except the A14 double deck which does not have cockpit rims. The longer 36 inch cockpit takes the larger spray skirt. It is on all XT kayaks and on all Puffin decks made for 2009. This includes new style Puffin Sport decks as well as decks for Puffin Saco and Puffin Saranac. The larger spray skirt shares the features of the smaller one. In addition, the larger one is reinforced with an aluminium rod across to minimize pooling of water.
THE PAKPOD™

The PakPod™ combines the functions of a Deck Bag and a Paddle Float self rescue device in a new and unique way. No, this is not just a gimmick. The PakPod™ is an excellent deck bag, and we think it is the most functional paddle float you can get. Doubtful? Well, read on:

ThePakPod™ as Deck Bag -
The PakPod™ provides 2.5 gallons (10 litres) of secure and convenient storage for all the gear you need to have available while under way. All the seams are welded and are quite waterproof, and the roll-top closure is both convenient and secure. A unique feature of the PakPod™ is that you can easily release it from the kayak with quick-release buckles, and the roll-top closure makes a handy grip so you can carry the bag easily. The flat surface that normally rests against the deck makes the PakPod™ easy to carry without getting in the way of your legs.

PakPod™ as Paddle Float (self rescue device) -
A good Paddle Float is easy to deploy. The PakPod™ is secured on deck and can be released from the kayak with one hand by releasing four quick-release buckles. There is nothing to inflate, and there is no need to locate anything below deck.

A good Paddle Float is secure. The PakPod™ stays firmly secured to the kayak until it has been secured to the paddle. It is never free floating, so it cannot blow away. You can secure the paddle to the PakPod™ with one hand while holding on to the kayak.

A good Paddle Float is effective. Because of its semi-rigid structure and domed shape, the PakPod™ always maintains its volume and buoyancy. With about 20 pounds of displacement it makes an effective outrigger to stabilize the kayak while the paddler climbs back in. Some weight in the bag is actually good because it lets the PakPod™ act as a counterweight and stabilize the kayak in both directions.

The "secret" that gives the PakPod™ its unique function is that it is not attached directly to the kayak. Instead, a webbing harness with quick-release buckles is attached to the kayak's deck rigging. The harness stays in place when the PakPod™ is deployed, so it is easy to secure it again when the rescue is completed. Another key detail is that the female part of the buckle that secures the paddle is attached to a semi-rigid board under the PakPod™ , so the paddler can easily close the buckle with one hand to secure the paddle.
  4-PIECE PADDLES
There are four different 4-piece paddles to choose from:

• AquaBound Sting Ray: 230cm: Aluminium shaft/yellow plastic blades
• AquaBound Sting Ray: 220cm: Carbon shaft/white fibreglass reinforced blades
• AquaBound Sting Ray : 220cm: Carbon shaft/black carbon reinforced blades
• Cannon: 230cm: Aluminium shaft/yellow plastic blades
FOOTREST
The foot rest has a comfortable inflatable bar across to rest feet against. The position is adjustable while on the water by a strap attached under the forward edge of the seat.   The footrest can be installed in both Puffins and XTs.
